Named after the beauty and endurance of the Otter Creek, the Otter Creek wheel uses a traditional Saxony design with modern amenities.  The wheel is made from a combination of native Vermont hardwoods, composite wooden materials (MDF board) for the fly wheel and flyer whorl, pvc bobbin and axle, and poly drive band.  Each wheel comes with three bobbins (5:1), orifice hook, spinning wheel oil, and six ounces of rovings.  The Otter Creek wheel is a single treadle, single drive wheel, with Scotch tension brake, with a drive ratio of 6:1.  The wheel is 31.5" high, 19.25" wide, and 34" long.  The orifice is approximately 24.5" high depending on the tensioning.  The Otter Creek wheel also comes with a simple lazy kate for plying yarn (please see the simple lazy kates below).

A hand-made hardwood drying rack to hold completed skeins of yarn as they dry after washing.  The racks provide adequate tension without stretching out the yarn -- tension can be adjusted through three settings on each rack.  Each rack is made from local Vermont hardwoods, and standard size is 17"H x 29"L x 4.5" W.  The racks fit the skeins of our standard Niddy Noddy. If you are interested in a different height, please contact us.  There is some assembly required when you receive your drying rack.

Our Lazy Kates are hand-made of local Vermont hardwoods.  Each Lazy Kate holds three bobbins for plying yarn (not included).  The Lazy Kates measure 7"W x 12.75"H x 10"L.
